 Asthma facts and guidelines

Asthma is known as one of the common chronic diseases that affect all ages, especially children and adolescents.

It affects the respiratory system, specifically in the airway (bronchi) responsible for transporting air to and from the lungs

Due to its obstruction or narrowing, the individual feels difficulty and shortness of breath, or what is called asthma attacks.

Causes of its occurrence and causes of infection:

It occurs when a person is constantly and repeatedly exposed to asthma irritants, such as:

  • Incense, smoke, air pollutants or fumes resulting from burning wood
  • Polluted air emitted from vehicle or factory exhausts
  • Various weather fluctuations, such as dust, rain or extreme cold
  • Viral infections or the common cold
  • Chemicals, such as detergents and disinfectants

Thus, the area of the airway becomes irritated and shrinks (bronchi) as a result of their swelling (swelling) and the contraction of the surrounding muscles on the one hand, and due to increased secretion of mucous substances (phlegm) on the other hand, which causes their obstruction or narrowing. So the individual begins to feel the symptoms of an asthma attack or crisis

Symptoms of infection:

  • Frequent coughing or frequent coughing
  • Accompanied by a wheezing (whistling) sound while breathing
  • Chest tightness or pain
  • Difficulty or shortness of breath
  • Sleep disturbance due to shortness of breath

Misinformation about asthma:

  • being contagious
  • The fact that his treatments, especially the sprays, are addictive
  • It is a genetic disease
  • Asthma can only occur in childhood

Ways to help the body and strengthen its prevention:
